RVMS is excited to have teachers recognize teachers this year every couple weeks! Our Instructor of the Year last year, 8th grade Civics and Agriculture teacher, James Sherwood, started our year with the "BEST TEACHER EVER" block. He nominated and handed it off to Jane Finch, our Sewing teacher and Librarian. He said, "The teacher I want to give the best teacher ever award to, is Jane Finch, she is great at stepping in and helping at any time, she knows and cares for the students and she teaches them many things, her sewing class has always been great to see the students that take that class and how much they enjoy it and learn and produce real neat things, Jane Finch is a brick! We all love you and thank you for your work!" Thank you Mr. Sherwood and thank you Mrs. Finch for all you do for our students! Go Elks! ❤️

Huge shout out to our RVES Elk Award Scooter Winners. We did not get to hand these out at the end of the school year due to the fire. Our winners for the 2025 school year are Dixon Hooper and Mellee Smith. They had a great year and got their names put into the Elk Awards many times. Great job! We will do it again this year, so earn those Elk Awards!
We had a great start to our school year. Mr. Lozoya sported several of his many hats. Ms. Sunshine was shining brightly! So excited for a fun year with an awesome group of kids and staff!

We have our first walk to school day this week, Wednesday, August 13th, starting at the Public Library, at 7:00 am. Thank you to AZ Health Zone and Apache County Public Health Services for helping out. We welcome volunteers to walk with students from the library to the school. Also, we have a new email that we would like all parents to use for transportation changes. If you need to change how your child will go home, please email them to rves_transportation@elks.net This allows us to have all notices in one location to ensure your child goes home correctly. Thank you all for adjusting to the new flow of traffic for drop-off and pick-up. The transition has gone better than expected.

We want to inform everyone of some changes we have made with our RVES parking lot. The parking lot in front of the school has a fire lane up against the sidewalk that runs across the front of the building, please do not park along this curb. The Parent Drop-Off and Pick-Up has changed direction of traffic. You will enter the parking lot from the South and exit on the North end. Why did we do this? This allows for students to be dropped off closer to our building, which will help on cold weather days. It also allows for students in the passenger seat to be dropped off/or picked up nearest to the sidewalk. This prevents students from having to walk around and in between vehicles. Turning north (right) as you exit the parking lot is highly discouraged. It may cause a backup with buses and crosswalks and delay your exit. Thank you for your patience as everyone learns the new path. Looking forward to a great year!

The school district is executing improvement program with 17 major projects and an impressive 83% completion rate. Nine projects are already finished, including parking lots, HVAC systems, and the middle school gym floor, while 8 active projects focus heavily on middle school facilities and three major turf installations across all school levels. Despite weather delays affecting some striping work, the coordinated timeline shows most remaining projects completing by August, with the middle school parking lot opening July 23rd. This comprehensive infrastructure program demonstrates the district's commitment to providing modern, safe learning environments across all campuses.
Reminder: Sport Physicals for all grade levels today from 8:00 to 3:00. Location has moved from the Dome to the high school office. Cost is $25 and sport packets for HS and MS are available there at the high school. Physicals for middle school students are good for 2 years and physicals for high school students are good for one year. Go Elks!

Flood Prevention Update for Round Valley Schools
We want to inform our community that proactive flood prevention measures have been taken at both the Round Valley Dome and Round Valley Primary School. While engineers will be developing long-term solutions, that process will take some time. In the meantime, we’ve placed sandbags around entryways, installed a cement barrier around the Primary School, and added a culvert and additional barriers at the Dome to help prevent the kind of flooding we experienced last year. Thank you for your continued support as we work to protect our schools.
