RVES had our annual Veterans Day Assembly this last Thursday to honor our local Veterans. We had a great turn out, and the kids were able to learn and sing three great songs as part of it. Thank you Mrs. Slade. We had the winning 4th grade essay winners read their Why I Am Proud To Be An American essays. All grade levels and staff were great in helping set up and make a moving assembly. A great big thank you to Mr. Mario Soto for sharing a great message with the students, and to the VFW and American Legion for helping spread the word and supporting us. It is so great for the kids to be able to have so many local Veterans join us.

RVMS is proud to have teachers who represent 3 different branches of the military: Jenniffer Leonhardt (Navy), Ryan Bottachiari (Marines), and Ryan Lloyd (Air Force). Students paid tribute on Thursday to our in house veterans by lining the halls and cheering for them and the Steel Drums class played the National Anthem as a special treat! Thank you to all veterans for your service and your sacrifice!

RVMS was honored to welcome motivational guest speaker, Gian Paul Gonzalez, to our school this week. He brought a message of being "All In" in everything you do, work through the hard things in life, it is never too late to turn things around, and to always push yourself to become the best version of yourself. He even stayed a little longer to sign autographs and invited our Student Council and Youth Council students to a bonus session on leadership and how to encourage their peers to be kind. He gave students an "All In" chip to keep in their pockets as a reminder of the message. We received a grant from Title IX for the motivational speaker and we appreciate this investment in our students!

RVMS is excited to host a motivational guest speaker on Thursday, October 24. Gian Paul Gonzalez (pronounced John-Paul), will be speaking to our students starting at 10:00 a.m. in the RVMS Gym. Prior to the Giant’s 2011 Christmas Eve game with the NY Jets, Gonzalez delivered the now famous “ALL IN” rally cry message during the Giants’ chapel service and is now widely recognized as having inspired the New York Giants to their Super Bowl victory and was featured on ESPN on Super Bowl Sunday, and has had notable appearances on Fox News, ABC and CNN. He has traveled across the nation as a motivational speaker for the NBA’s Portland Trailblazers, to the Army Cadets at West Point, United States Air Force, Anheuser-Busch, Sam’s Club, Patch.com, PNC Bank, DSW Shoes as well as many other corporate, athletic, government agencies, and educational institutions. Next day after Gian Paul’s message the Giants beat the Jets 29-14. In a post game interview, Giant’s Defensive End, Justin Tuck credited the chapel speaker’s (Gian Paul) message of being “All In” as the reason the Giants won that day. The team went on to win every game, up to and including Super Bowl XLVI, where they beat the New England Patriots 21-17. "ALL IN' is not a slogan, it's a LIFEstyle.
