Thank you to all those who have contacted local law enforcement and the school district directly with information regarding last week’s social media threat. This matter is still being investigated and we encourage anyone with additional information to contact RVPD directly at 928-333-4240. We anticipate all classes to resume on Monday and we understand the uneasiness and hesitation our community might be feeling. The safety of our students is a serious matter. We will be communicating our plan for safely returning our students back to school very soon. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we prepare this information.

RVUSD administration was notified late last night by the Round Valley Police Department that a social media post was made threatening our district. Local law enforcement and multiple agencies are investigating to find the source of this threat. Presently, we do not have any reason to believe the threat is credible. However, due to the timing of this incident, and out of caution for the safety of our students and staff, RVUSD has made a decision to cancel school for August 10th. All RV campuses will be closed to students and staff during this time—we will provide an update regarding afternoon activities later today. RV administration will continue to work with law enforcement and to the degree we are able, will pass along information as it becomes available. We sincerely appreciate the hard work of our local law enforcement.

Each day our 4th grade students are responsible for raising, lowering, folding and storing our American Flag . Thank you to US Army, SFC Sands, for taking the time to teach our students about proper flag etiquette. A big thank you to our 4th grade teachers for organizing this memorable experience! 🇺🇸

5th grade Social Studies teacher, Darla Udall brought in cowboy poetry, Eric McNeil, to her class today to talk with the students about mistakes and failures in life and how to persevere through tough times. Thank you for bringing an excellent message to our students!

Based on the teachers' guidelines, the children can earn gold coins through reaching certain milestones in reading. These milestones can be tailored around each child.
•The main goal for this vending machine is to encourage and foster a love for reading and learning, the value of working towards achieving goals, and rewarding the children for their hard work.

Hello Parents and Students!
Thank you for taking time to look through a great opportunity for summer reading!
Why Read? Our summer reading program is designed to help our entering 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade students understand that reading is an enjoyable pastime and that we read for pleasure as well as to acquire information. It is not a secret that reading skills improve with practice! Making time in the day or night to read is good for the mind and it is a wonderful way to reduce the noise, stress and stimulation often associated with busy lives in our fast paced world. It is well known that reading is essential to providing a solid basis for academic achievement. But most of all, reading is fun!
Round Valley Middle School Summer Reading Program:
1. How many books will you read over the summer? It will be different for everyone.
2. The goal is to read a MINIMUM of 4 books.
Your personal reading goal may be higher and that’s awesome! Record each book you read on the Summer Reading Log to help you keep track of what you read. Please complete a separate form for every book you read. The Reading Log is attached. Also, we are asking for you to send us pictures of your child with the book(s) they are reading. You can send to Lmuth@elks.net or post to our facebook with #RVMSreads. We will use these in our summer celebration and also post to our website to highlight our students who are reading.
3. Students can read what they want!
Free choice is an important component of this program. Students are encouraged to read at their appropriate reading level. Not sure? Talk with your parents to see if a particular book is a good fit for you. Fiction and non-fiction books, graphic novels, ebooks, collections of short stories– all of these are fine! Read what you like!
4. SUMMER READING CELEBRATION AND PRIZES
A celebration at The Lodge will be held for all students who submit at least 4 Summer Reading Logs. Prizes will be given for our top readers and we will celebrate YOU as a reader! Happy Summer Reading!
