Transportation Director

Dear parents:

    The Transportation Department of the Round Valley Unified School District is pleased to be able to transport your children to and from school each day. Our drivers are dedicated individuals, who enjoy their job and are appreciative of the association they have with young people. It is our mission to provide safe and pleasant transportation for your children each school day. At the present time, we are experiencing a severe shortage of drivers and would ask your help as we strive to maintain routes and have transportation available. Because of the shortage of qualified drivers, we may have to split some routes from time to time, and your child may be on a different bus and pickup-up and return times may vary a little from what is normal. We ask your indulgence and assistance during this period. This year, because kindergarten children will be attending school all day, we will not be able to provide door to door transportation for your kindergarten students. They will be picked up and dropped off at the regular stop closest to your home. We hope that you can understand this and be assured that our drivers will continue to do all they can to insure the safety of your children.
    By way of information, to become a certified bus driver in Arizona, several steps and a significant amount of time is required. Potential drivers must pass a back-ground check, pass a Department of Public Safety fingerprint check, pass a drug and alcohol screen, pass a physical examination, receive first aid and CPR certification, receive 14 yours of classroom instruction on bus driving, complete a minimum of 20 hours of over the road driving with a certified bus driver trainer, pass a physical agility test and pass a driving skills test. Each year, in-service classes are held and refresher classes are required. We believe that all of our drivers are dedicated to their responsibility and each cares deeply for children. Bus schedules for the 2006-07 school year will be available no later than Monday, August 7. Please contact you child’s school of attendance or the bus barn.
    Again, we would ask your help and understanding as we strive to move your children to and from school. If any of you would be interested in becoming a bus driver please call the Transportation office at 333-5195 and ask for Cindy or Art. We will be happy to provide necessary information. CLASSIFICATION FOR FEE SCHEDULE

Class I

Round Valley Schools and its organizations.
Not-for-profit organizations that provide a direct educational benefit to the district and do not charge a fee.

Class II

Not-for-profit organizations that provide a direct educational benefit to the district and charge a fee.

Class III

Not-for-profit organizations that do not provide a direct educational benefit to the district.

Class IV

All profit making ventures and commercial organizations.

Notes:

All fractions of hours are rounded up to the next whole hour.
Facilities used on holidays will be charged at 1 1/2 times the regular rate.
Long-term use of facilities is discouraged. After every 6 months the board will need to approve continued usage and the fee will be doubled.
Long-term use applies to Class III & IV only.
There will be a $0.50 per square foot per month fee charge for storage of the lessee's materials, equipmtne, property, etc.
All Dome fees include one supervisor and custodial services
Food Concessions remain with the school
* Or 5% of gorse receipts, whichever is greater.
