 Discipline Guidelines

In order to ensure that your child and all students in the school district has an excellent educational experience, the school district has adopted the following discipline plan that will be in effect at all times.

POSITIVE REWARDS

Included in the school discipline plan are ways to positively reinforce student who behave appropriately; in addition to using frequent praise, the students will be rewarded with special activities, treats, programs and extra recess time.


GENERAL CLASSROOM RULES

  1. Follow directions the first time they are given.

  2. Be in the classroom and seated when teacher is ready to start.

  3. Bring paper, pencil, pen, books and all needed supplies to class everyday.

  4. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself.

  5. No swearing, rude gestures, cruel teasing or hazing.

PLAYGROUND RULES

  1. Follow directions the first time they are given.

  2. Play in designated areas ONLY.

  3. Use playground equipment appropriately.

  4. NO fighting

  5. NO throwing of hazardous objects.

CLASSROOM AND PLAYGROUND CONSEQUENCES

1st Offense Name on list Warning  
2nd Offense Name, x 3 minutes in timeout  
3rd Offense Name, x x 5 minutes in timeout Teacher calls parents

Chronic offenders will be moved to 4th offense

4th Offense Name, x x x Recess Renewal Timeout in recess, child and principal calls parents
5th Offense Name, x x x x Recess Renewal Timeout in recess, child and principal calls parents / referral to counseling service
6th Offense Name, x x x x x Alternative playground for three recesses Parents must come to school

 

SEVERE CLAUSE

If Student.......

  1. Commits or threatens to commit harm to another student or adult.
  2. Damages or destroys student, teacher or school property.
  3. Refuses to follow directions given by teacher or educational aide.
  4. Acts insubordinate.

SEVER CLAUSE CONSEQUENCES

  1. Student goes directly to principal.
  2. Parent contacted, asked to attend recess with child.
  3. Parent contacted, asked to attend school with child.
  4. Principal or parent removes child from school
  5. Call Police - 911

BUS RULES

  1. Follow bus driver's instructions - remain quiet enough that instructions can be heard.
  2. Remain seated while bus is in motion.
  3. Do not destroy personal or school property (seats, windows, etc.).
  4. Keep hands, feet and objects to yourself and in the bus.
  5. No swearing, rude gestures, cruel teasing or hazing.

BUS CONSEQUENCES

1st Offense Name on list  Warning (inform student as he/she gets of bus.)
2nd Offense Name, x Stop the bus and move the student to an assigned seat up front.
3rd Offense Name, x x Assign student to a seat up front for a week; contact parents.
4th Offense Name, x x x Fill out disciplinary action form (be specific) and give it to principal.  Bus driver will try to be present when student goes to Principal's office.

 

CONSISTENT NON-COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES

The driver will explain to the student that he/she will skip the first three steps and start the new day on step four.

SEVERE CLAUSE

If student......

  1. Commits or threatens to commit harm to another student or adult.
  2. Damages or destroys student, teacher or school property.
  3. Engages in behavior that would endanger the safety of himself/herself or other passengers.
  4. Acts insubordinate.

SEVERE CLAUSE CONSEQUENCES

  1. Contact parent.
  2. Suspended from riding bus for an appropriate length of time.
  3. In-school or out-of-school suspension.
  4. Call polices.

REWARDS

  1. Verbal praise - be specific
  2. Treats
  3. Call parents
  4. Notify principal and have him/her give the student verbal recognition or praise.
