-
Meal Prices
-
Lunch tickets may be purchased in any
quantity you wish. For 5 lunches the price is $6.75
-
We urge you to buy tickets on the first
school day of the week. It is easier for the children to
handle money on that one day than to have to carry money
everyday. However, the children may purchase lunches one
day at a time as they go through the lunch line.
-
In September forms to apply for free or
reduced lunches will come home with the children.
Please fill this form out and return
it even if you are not interested in the free or reduced
lunch.
-
Children who were on free or reduced
lunch last year will automatically be carried this year
until September 16th 2004.
-
Monthly lunch menus will be sent home
the first of each month.

Nutrition Service at a Glance
[Top]
The National School Lunch Program since 1946 has made it
possible for schools throughout the nation to serve
wholesome lunches that are designed to meet the nutritional
needs of children. These lunches make an important
contribution to the good nutrition so vital to children's
mental and physical development. Round Valley Schools
provide meals that are established on each menu's
nutritional value.
Lunch Menu consist of the following: Entrée, Fruit,
Vegetable, Bread, Milk.
A lunch menu is sent home or available from your students
school each month. Cost for lunch: Elem. $1.35, Secondary
$1.50. Payment made to the school by the WEEK or by the
MONTH. We have a no charge policy. Ala-Carte is available at
all Secondary schools. Prices vary per food item. There are
many choices for students to choose from.
SCHOOL BREAKFAST PROGRAM
[Top]
Children who come to school hungry may find it difficult
to stay alert and learn. The School Breakfast Program helps
close the nutrition gap by providing children with
nutritious food before school begins. The program improves
the nutrition and dietary practices of students that aids
the learning process.
Breakfast cost is $.60
per meal. Payment made to the school by the WEEK or by
the MONTH. Student's who qualify for free and reduced meals
for school lunch also qualify and are eligible for the same
benefits in the breakfast program.
A monthly menu for breakfast is sent home from the school
to inform parents and students of what foods are being
served. The program is designed to provide one quarter of
the child's recommended daily dietary allowance.
CHILD NUTRITION PROGRAMS ARE
TRYING TO HELP STUDENTS BY:
[Top]
Making available healthy eating choices. Efforts have
been made to modify the fat, salt, and sugar in recipes used
in the meals that are prepared. The specifications of items
purchased are reviewed and where possible selected based on
improving the nutritional quality of school meals.
Reinforcing classroom Instruction through having the
meals serves as a learning laboratory. More choices in menus
are available to students, i.e. fresh fruits and vegetables,
entrees, etc.
Promoting nutrition as part of a comprehensive healthy
life style program by increasing the awareness of the
National Dietary Guidelines as they relate to dietary
practices.

(replaces the application) is sent to you around July 15th
from the Arizona State Office of Education, please follow

LUNCH POLICY
[Top]

School Lunch Program, and accepts responsibility for
providing free and reduced price meals to eligible
children in the schools under it's jurisdiction.
-
- The School Food Service Program will

-
- All procedures that the district has
agreed to carry out in order to participated in the
national school lunch and breakfast programs will be
followed.
-
- Students are not allowed to charge
school lunch unless there is an emergency. If a student
has a charge of up to three meals, the student's account
will be closed. School lunch personnel should contact
parents to inform them of the charge and make
arrangements for payment before or during the next lunch

-
- You may reapply for benefits at any time during the
school year. If you are not eligible now but have a
decrease in household income, become unemployed, or have

release proof of eligibility for meal benefits directly
to directors of the programs you marked. If you were
directly certified, you need to complete the "Other
Benefits-Waiver of Confidentiality" page and return it
to the Child Nutrition Office. Keep this letter to
confirm your eligibility for benefits under the National
School Lunch Program in the event you make application
for other programs.
