Six generations of Gary’s ancestors have lived in the White Mountains so you could say he is native to the area.  He is a graduate of St. Johns High School and Brigham Young University with a degree in Business Management.  Gary is married to the former Kathleen Sherwood of Eagar and they have six children, three of which are married and away at school, his fourth daughter will be married soon.  Gary has a great love for the White Mountains and the people who live here.  All four of his grandparents as well as his parents were born and raised in the White Mountains.  Gary is employed with Tucson Electric Power Company and has worked at the Springerville Generating Station for 22 years where he is currently the Business Services Director.  Gary has been and is very involved in his community.  He served in various Boy Scouts Of America positions and Rotary.  Gary is currently serving on the Apache County Economic Development (EDAC) (past Board President), Round Valley Unified District School Board current Board President,  United Way Of Northern Arizona North East Chapter Board (also a past president), the White Mountain Regional Medical Center Board as vice president, and Round Valley High School Sports Booster Club as treasurer.  He also is very active in his church and has served in many capacities.  Gary loves the White Mountains and has said “others have come to this area and said it looks like ‘the ends of the earth here’ but he says, ‘to me it looks like the center of the earth’”.
