Stan Smith moved to RV and was our Principal this year. He came here from Clifton.
We sat a record for almost 450 registering for school this year.
Do you remember Initiation? This was the last year they held freshmen Initiation at RVHS.
Homecoming - Members of the class of 1957 were honored at the annual
homecoming assembly sponsored by the class of 1978. Chuck Martin and Mrs.
Kae Slade Estes compared the school now and how it was "way back then".
Everett Slade presented red roses to the cheerleaders and their sponsor, Mrs.
Marjorie Buehler, in appreciation of their efforts for the team. Also
honored at the assembly were the team and royalty nominees: Sherrie Whitlow,
Kelly Trickey, Coni Pena, Cricket Hill, Sylvia Hale, Armando Chavez, Berry
Crosby, Roger Hall, Everett Slade and John Candelaria.

Freshmen, 4th Juniors
Homecoming was held on October 7th 1977 with the Elks meeting Class A South
Wilcox Cowboys in the game. Wilcox got revenge for last year's trouncing
by the Elks and beat RV 28-13. Mike Hogan scored the first TD and Barry
Crosby, the second one. The Elks had total yardage of 202 while the
Cowboys had 220 yards.

Round Valley High School belonged to the Apache County High School District #90. The Board members included Dr. Rob Roy Patterson, St. Johns; Austin H. "Bill" Slaughter, Alpine; Larry Rogers, Round Valley; President of the board was Norman Ashcroft, Round Valley; Jerold Judd, Lucachukai.

Football: Season's Record: Won 3, Lost 7
Conference Record: Won 3 Lost 2
Scored 180 points compared to 171 for opponents, an average of 18 points per
game. Tied Blue Ridge for the 2nd place in B North Conference
Volleyball: Season's Record: 16 Wins, 5 Losses
The RV Girls Volleyball team pulled together for another very successful season.
Laurie Griffin and Sylvia Hale were named to B North All-Conference team and
Sylvia made the state tournament team. Mrs. Nicoll coached the team.
Wrestlers place second at state!
Foote ends 8 year career at RV. He coached four teams to state
championships and three to runner-up positions.
Basketball - Boys: Season's Record: Won 10, Lost 13
Place 2nd at EA and 4th at B North Tourney
Scored 1271 points to 1295 for opponents, an average of 55.2 pts. per game.
Basketball - Girls: Wins 15, Looses 7 during regular season
Scored 963 points as compared to 814 for opponents, and average of 45.86 pts.
per game as compared to 38.76 for opponents. Sylvia Hale scored 228 points
with Laurie Griffin scoring 226.

Girls track team wins B North and places fourth at state meet!
Baseball team wins 4, looses 6
RVHS Band performed at several pep assemblies, in the homecoming parade, at band day, in several concerts, at Valley Vibrations in the spring and several football games.
The Select Choir performed several times during the school year. The group performed at both the Apache County and Arizona State Fairs, put on a Christmas Concert, performed at the Large Groups Festival, sand at the Spring Pip Concert, the Music Awards Banquet and the honor awards assembly.
The "Sound of Music" was presented Nov. 17,18 & 19.
"Our Town" was presented Mar. 31st
The Bugle Staff produces newspaper. Part of the journalism class published the school's newspaper, THE ELK'S BUGLE, once a month during the year.

The ELK ANTLER Club
The Elk Antler Club is made up of loyal supporters of the activities of Round
Valley High School. Members of the yearbook staff salute the newest
addition to this select group when Mrs. Ann Udall was crowned this year's queen
of spectators at the final home basketball game in February. She was
honored with the following past inductees into this elite club: Mr. & Mrs.
Austin H. "Bill" Slaughter, Roland Hamblin, Elsie Hamblin and Chloe Hale.
