Class Reunion 1982

FELLOW USONORV'S (United Spouses of the Natives of Round Valley):  AT LAST WE ARE UNITED!  TOO LONG WE HAVE BEEN SILENT & WITHOUT VOICE.  WE ARE ORGANIZED AND NOW WE WILL BE HEARD!  IN THIS ORGANIZATION THERE ARE NO DUES TO PAY.  (You have already paid said dues by simply enduring all that you have been called upon to endure in this life by being a USONORV.)  THERE ARE NOT MANY MEETINGS TO ATTEND -- MOST OF THEM WILL BE ON OCCASIONS SUCH AS THIS WHEN OUR SPOUSES RETURN EN MASSE TO "ROUND VALLEY -- GOD'S COUNTRY".

WE PROPOSE FEW ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION.  HOWEVER, THE FOLLOWING DO EXPRESS TO SOME DEGREE OUR FEELINGS AT BEING USONORVS.

1.  We have no personal identity while in Round Valley.  We are simply "so & so's husband or wife", as the case may be.

2.  We must realize that the basic reason we were "lucky" enough to marry someone from Round Valley is that in Arizona it is illegal to marry your cousin.  Otherwise we assume that they would of all married one another.

3.  We must promise our spouses that if she (or he) should go first, we will see that she (or he) is buried overlooking Round Valley.  (We must also be prepared to wake up on Resurrection Morning ourselves in Round Valley if we should go first.)

4.  We must accept the fact that the only place on earth to be on the 4th of July is in Round Valley.

5.  Relating to the above, we must not only cheerfully endure the famous 4th of July horse parade each year, but we must cheerfully park our cars so that after viewing said parade in Eagar, we can cheerfully race down the back streets of Eagar & beat the parade so that we can cheerfully witness it a second time in Springerville.

6.  We must each learn to dance the "Springerville Stomp" (al la Farrel Hale) and must cheerfully perform this duty whenever & wherever we hear country & western music played.

7.  When in Round Valley we must abandon all sense of reason with regard to directions.  South is always UP and north is always DOWN.  The rodeo grounds is OUT and the Little Colorado River is OVER.

8.  We must accustom ourselves to always stopping to take pictures both as we ENTER "The Valley" and as we LEAVE.  (We must also find someplace to keep the results of these year-after-year-after-year rituals.)

9.  We must endeavor to realize that every place in the would EXCEPT in Round Valley people are called by their names.  (Somehow this always seemed perfectly logical.)  In Round Valley people have nicknames for their nicknames.  To wit: Pepi, Pinhead, Conch & Skin, Squeekie, Hoosey, Duff & Beans, Goonie, Doonie, Jack & Jill, Pete, Re-Pete, Wad & Mo, Spud, Hez, Dank & Deno -- the list goes on FOREVER.  (Pity the poor RV Postman.)

10.

(We have intentionally left #10 blank.  There's not enough paper available to list everything we could & should.  We leave this space so that each of us can put down in writing the one thing that we have found the most difficulty in dealing wi9th these many years - that absolutely NO ONE except another USONORV would understand.)

Signed and sealed this 3rd day of July, 1982
